The MLK Essay Contest was established in 2024 to honor the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Gaston County high school students can participate in the contest to learn more about Dr. King and the civil rights movement. Winners receive a small scholarship and the opportunity to read their essays at the MLK Unity Award ceremony.
