The MLK Essay Contest was established in 2024 to honor the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Gaston County high school students can participate in the contest to learn more about Dr. King and the civil rights movement.
This contest is open to Gaston County high school students (grades 9 - 12). Winners will receive a $500 scholarship and the opportunity to read their essay at the MLK Unity Award Celebration (held annually on MLK Jr. Day).
